“There is no favorable wind for the sailor who doesn’t know where he wants to go.”

I heard this wise sentence several years ago, and it took me a while to find a practical way to apply it consistently in my own life!

It is quite easy for a sailor to decide about his destination: he has a detailed map of the oceans and, providing he learned how to sail, he can pick any destination on the map and go there straight away…

But when it comes to sail the oceans of our own life, the difficulty increases because most of us (1) don’t have a precise map of the oceans, (2) have not really learn how to sail, and (3) sometimes don’t even know where they currently are on the map!

That’s why we find so many corks floating randomly on the oceans of life…

And that’s why the MKE training starts by giving us a way to draw our own map, then teaches us how to sail by choosing a destination and by mastering the controls of our boat…

In this little metaphor, the oceans are produced by our subconscious mind…the winds are our thoughts…and we need to learn how to sail so that we live our life according to our own agenda rather than the hidden agendas of other people…

Our destination is represented by our purpose (our Dharma as Mark calls it), and this is why the first lesson of the MKE invites each member to write a DMP (Definite Major Purpose).

This helps us to start exploring our inner oceans, which are different for each individual on the planet…

That makes us like Christopher Columbus or Fernando Magellan, these great explorers sailing on a time when the maps of the oceans had still to be drawn!

Yes, as a student of the MKE, you are an intrepid and courageous explorer away to discover the oceans of your own universe…

For sure, you will go through opposite currents, bad weather or even a storm from time to time, but how could you imagine to become a good sailor if you do like most people, who are only willing to sail along the comforting coasts?

Because here is what these people don’t know or pretend not to know: storms happen along the coasts too, and if you are a poor sailor, your boat can sink as easily as in high seas!

So, welcome on the oceans of life and have fun exploring them, we are excited to listen to the stories of your discoveries!
