I am fascinated by the stage performance of Michael Jackson in his song “Man in the Mirror”. He’s giving all he’s got, bringing the energy to its highest until the last note, then delivering the final sentence:

“Make that change.”

Week 12 of the MKMMA program is the “Mirror” week, with an intense, sometimes life-changing experience in front of the mirror for each member.

I let you the pleasure of the discovery if you haven’t done it yet, however its message is the same as the one of Michael Jackson’ song: whatever change you want to achieve in your life, it must start with the man (or the woman) in the mirror…in other words, Yourself.

This is probably obvious for you who are reading this blog, but it is still not obvious for many people around us.

It certainly wasn’t for me until the horror of the World Trade Center 9/11 tragedy in 2001 which forced me to ask myself the right questions about my individual role in the Human drama.

And still, it took me quite some time to eventually become comfortable with and grateful for the idea that I am 100% responsible for everything happening in my life.

And now, here is what I wanted to stress: once we have reached that point of self-consciousness, there is again a huge opportunity for improvement.

This is indicated by the mantra of the Master Key System: “the World Without is a reflection of the World Within.”

In Michael Jackson’ song and in the MKE mirror experience, we look at ourself in a real mirror.

In the above mantra, we imply that the “World Without”, which means the entire world, is the mirror.

Can you measure the huge potential benefits we can gain from that observation?

It simply and clearly means that anything from the outside world which reaches our consciousness is an image of something which resides inside of us.

This is huge information because we have now a clear direction and a practical means to pursue our self-improvement process forever.

How do we proceed?

Let’s just illustrate this with an example: we are driving peacefully to visit a friend, listening great music on the radio. Comes the moment of the news, which reports a new terrorist attack which killed several people.

There are two ways to react to this news: the wrong way and the right way!

The wrong way is this: we get really sad for the victims and really angry against these crazy criminals killing innocent people and destroying their families and society.

But putting ourselves in a state of anger and hatred is just adding more anger and hatred to the human egregor from which these criminals are unconsciously acting.

Let’s be blunt here: it is crucial that we understand and accept this fact and that we do our best to adjust our behavior, otherwise we become responsible and guilty to contribute to these acts of barbarism too.

The right way is difficult to apprehend at first but is worth our efforts because it causes us to become better people in a better world.

The first step is to understand that any “negative” event reaching our consciousness is a reflection of something in our World Within that needs to be healed (remember that the World Without is our mirror!)

The next step is to use the Laws of the mind to do our work: to heal and transform our World Within.

Here is how we do this hard work: we feel deep gratitude and love for the victims who have unconsciously sacrificed their lives (remember the 100% responsibility law) to trigger shifts of consciousness in other human beings; feel love for the murderers who “don’t know what they are doing” and also unconsciously contribute to these shifts of consciousness; strengthen our determination to become a better person and increase our positive influence in the World Without by continuously improving our World Within.

I am aware that this is hard stuff to swallow, my friend!

So take your time to think, meditate and then…make that change!

I’m gonna make a change,
For once I’m my life
It’s gonna feel real good,
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right
As I, turn up the collar on
My favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets,
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs
A summer disregard, a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya’ know
‘Cause they got nowhere to go
That’s why I want you to know
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
(If you want to make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
(Na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)
I’ve been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It’s time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they’re not alone?
A willow deeply scarred, somebody’s broken heart
And a washed-out dream
(Washed-out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya’ see
‘Cause they got no place to be
That’s why I’m starting with me
(Starting with me!)
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I’m asking him to change his ways
(Ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
(If you want to make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I’m asking him to change his ways
(Change his ways, ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that
(Take a look at yourself and then make that)
Change!
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah!)
I’m asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
(If you want to make the world a better place)
You can’t close your, your mind!
(Then you close your, mind!)
That man, that man, that man, that man
With the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah!)
That man, that man, that man,
I’m asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
You know, that man
No message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
(If you want to make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
(Take a look at yourself and then make the change)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na na na, na na na, na na, na nah
(Ooh)
Oh no, no no
I’m gonna make a change
It’s gonna feel real good!
Come on!
(Change)
Just lift yourself
You know
You’ve got to stop it,
Yourself!
(Yeah! Make that change!)
I’ve got to make that change, today!
Hoo!
(Man in the mirror)
You got to
You got to not let yourself
Brother
Hoo!
(Yeah! Make that change!)
You know I’ve got to get
That man, that man
You’ve got to
You’ve got to move! Come on!
Come on!
You got to
Stand up! Stand up! Stand up!
(Yeah! Make that change)
Stand up and lift yourself, now!
(Man in the mirror)
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aw!
(Yeah! Make that change!)
Gonna make that change
Come on!
You know it!
You know it!
You know it!
You know it
(Change)
Make that change.
